The CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialized tasks and functions in aged services. They work either in residential, hospital or community based environments and are required to take responsibility for their own work within defined organization guidelines.
They will also be required to maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. Workers will be required to demonstrate leadership and take responsibility for other team members.
The course modules are structured to provide a balanced program of theory and practice relevant to the career opportunities across the aged care industry.

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support gives individuals the skills to deliver specialised care to older adults in residential, home, or community settings. The course focuses on advanced care strategies, supporting independence, and improving the quality of life for ageing individuals. Graduates are prepared for roles such as Aged Care Worker or Senior Personal Care Assistant in leadership positions within aged care facilities and support services.

The course is provided through Blended mode of delivery. It will be delivered over 1250 hours including theory, self-paced structured e-learning, simulation training (120 hours) and 120 hours of work-based training/ professional experience placement (PEP).
Besides the above structured learning, students are advised that they will be required to do unstructured learning as assigned.
The simulation training is for review of the learning activities, practicing communication, work-based skills, management skills and to undertake other assessments e.g.: group presentation/individual presentation.
BLENDED20 contact hours will be delivered through synchronised online learning which includes on- campus simulation based training and Professional experience placement.
Besides the above structured learning, students are advised that they will be required to do approximate 10 hours per week of unstructured learning.

Professional Experience Placement (PEP) is an essential component of some of the
units
of this qualification. Students will commence the 120 hours of placement (PEP) upon
completing all theory assessments including simulation-based assessments (SBA).
During the PEP, students will apply the required essential knowledge and skills to
demonstrate competency for each unit of this qualification.
Each student will work in pairs with a buddy staff member under the supervision of
the workplace supervisor at the PEP facility.
An IHNA trainer and assessor will monitor the student’s progress during the PEP. All
PEPs are arranged by IHNA. Students may arrange PEP by themselves if preferred, as
agreed with and in consultation with, the course coordinator.
There are no mandatory entry requirements for this qualification however following IHNA admission criteria will be applicable:
In addition to meeting the academic requirements applicants must demonstrate their competence in literacy and numeracy levels in an Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) at exit Level 3 and participate in a pre-training review when enrolling into the course.
Mature age students (22+) will also be considered without the minimum education requirements. Each case will be reviewed individually to ascertain the capacity of the student to meet course requirements.

All IHNA students must complete the Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) assessment to ensure that students meet the necessary requirements for successfully undertaking the course. IHNA administers the LLND test to evaluate each student’s suitability.
